Growing up, I was always fascinated by the supernatural. I couldn't get enough of ghost stories and psychic encounters. I would buy all kinds of books and watch every TV show. I have even wondered how I could get a reading with one of the famous psychics that I had read so much about. And there was even a time or two when I had my palm read or the tea leaf thing but each of those experiences were very underwhelming.
This may be hard to understand but I would watch these stories and be scared to death at the same time. I would watch certain TV shows or read certain books and then be afraid to go to sleep at night. But I was still curious about people that said they could see and talk to spirits. I was captivated by the thought that people that have died were still around us. Trying to communicate with us. I really thought that God was facilitating all of this. But deep down inside I think I knew better because I knew I definitely did not want to see or hear from any ghost.
I have learned several things as an adult, that there is more to life than the physical world we live in. There is a spiritual world around us, full of good and bad spirits. I have also learned that the enemy can and will use familiar spirits. And if it terrifies you or scares you, that it is most likely not of God.
The flip side of this is my life now. I am still fascinated by the supernatural. But now I have access to the supernatural miracles of God. Since beginning my walk with Christ and receiving His Holy Spirit. I am now able to experience the supernatural of God pretty frequently. I didn't know it then but I had it all wrong when I was younger, I was looking for something but I did not know exactly what I was looking for. But I know now because I have found it.
Through having a strong intimate relationship with God. By reading His word, spending time in prayer and seeking His face. My faith has increased. Which allows God to respond and allows Him to manifest His presence in your life. Now instead of seeking the supernatural I am able to experience the supernatural for myself. These experiences (dreams, visions, extreme fruits of the spirit, etc.) are things that I am not afraid of. Actually I encourage it and I cannot get enough, I seek more and more. No matter how close I get to Him, I want to be closer. It is amazing to experience God in any form.
But remember there are positive and negative forces all around us. But if you are equipped with your sword, His word, the Holy Bible. You will know and realize that how powerful you really are. And you will be better prepared to rebuke and resist the tricks of the enemy. Don't forget there really is a battle going on and God is fighting for you.
I said all that to say that the supernatural is there for you to experience for yourself. You can tap into the negative or you can tap into the positive. I encourage you seek the positive. Seek a closer relationship with Him. To experience the protective, powerful, wonderful, loving nature of God for yourself. Try Him, He is waiting.
