You know that feeling you get when you've eaten something and it just hasn't quite satisfied you. That feeling of wanting more. Well for me, I came across that feeling in my walk with Christ. You see, I did not grow up in a home where we went to church every Sunday. But growing up I frequently visited different churches with friends and family. I have always believed in God and some where deep inside I've always known that I was a Christian.
As I grew older, started a family, career and found a church home. I did not think there was much more to life. I was a good person, a law abiding citizen and very active in my church. I believed in God but I did not know Him. Now I was being fed by my spiritual leaders but I was never satisfied. That's when I started seeking more from God. I began taking my salvation very seriously. I wanted to be sure that my life was headed in the right direction.
I found the 'more', in an intimate personal relationship with God. Spending time in His word, spending time in prayer and slowly changing my life. Eventually He responded to me becoming more real than anything else in my life. So I can attest that there is more to God than just going to church. There is more that we must do to secure our salvation with Him. It's not about works but really getting close to Him and allowing Him into our hearts.
We say that He is this big powerful, almighty and sovereign God who knows all and sees all. But so many of us continue to live in sin, is it possible to really know Him and not do as He has commanded us? I think that if you really know Him that it will reflect in the way that you live your life. Inside and outside of the four walls of the church building.
Don't let the traditions of the church keep you from a real true experience with God. Seek the 'More'. God is real, heaven is real and so is hell. Get serious about your soul. Don't just believe in Him experience Him for yourself, He's waiting for you.
Matthew 7:7-8 7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Deuteronomy 4:29 - But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find [him], if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
Proverbs 8:17 - I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
Jeremiah 29:12-14 12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. 14And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
