I think many people have a misconception of who God is. They have their own thoughts of what God should be and what God should do. There are also a lot of contradicting ideas in the world and so many gods to choose from. But none of that has any bearing on who He really is. The nature of God cannot be understood by guessing or surmising. It can only be appreciated from within a personal relationship with Him.
I often hear non-believers say things like, if there is a God then why are there so many bad things happening in the world? Or if there is a God why doesn't He do this or do that. They want proof, a miracle, a magic trick or a two minute answer that explains away all the man made theories of evolution. But it doesn't work like that and it is not that simple.
You cannot make someone believe no matter how much you share with them. They have to become curious enough or desperate enough for them to seek God out for them self. We all have needs, issues and problems. Some of these things are so big that we can't see our way around them. Bills that are due, grief, depression, illness and so many other things.
It would be amazing if we could just call on God and have Him show up in all His power and glory to fix our problems. But this is not who He is. He is not Aladdin, running around granting wishes. He is not a magician. And He is not our servant awaiting on our every beckoning and call.
God is actually much better than that. This life is a journey that we all must walk through. As an individual we all have ups and downs. But if you have a personal relationship with God, He will be with you and walk with you every step of the way. You tell Him your problems, what you are going through and He will walk you through those situations.
You don't have to worry about ever being alone. He will guide you through this life giving you peace, helping you and He will give your life purpose. Yes, bad things happen in this world and that does not mean that there isn't a God. It just means that there are lessons for us to learn and experiences for us to get through. But as long as we do it with Him, one day we will live is a place of perfection where nothing bad happens.
So, simply put God is not a genie rather He is a God that will walk with you and help you get through this life. You just have to invite Him in. Forge a relationship with Him, today.
