The Weight of Sin

Most of us don't realize it but sin has an effect on our soul. If you can imagine, it attaches to us. One invisible layer after another. Dirtying our soul and interfering with our connection to God. The weight of sin is undetectable in the physical but it's affect is real. Even those of us that are spiritually in tune may not notice it because it comes on so gradually. Little by little as we go through life trying to find our selves, our purpose and our reason for being here.

I didn't realize that sin had weight until I was saved. I felt a physical weight lifted off me. A weight that I had no idea that I was carrying around. I felt lighter, more clear, more open. It's hard to explain it but it was unmistakable. An event that I will never forget. I didn't understand it fully at the time but I new that I was having a spiritual experience.

I was cleansed in that moment, born again, renewed. I knew that my repentance had been accepted and my sins had been forgiven. I also had a clear connection to God. I believe that we are all connected to Him but something was different. Having that experience left me not wanting to do anything to tarnish that connection. When I fall short, I repent immediately, actually I am always repentant in prayer and at heart.

You may not realize the weight of your own sin but when that weight is removed it will be undeniable.

John 3:5-6 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Acts2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD.
