Not Hearing From God? Pay Attention To Your Dreams

God will speak to us in our dreams. If you have any trouble believing that, look to your Bible for examples. If you believe in God you know that he does not change. He is the same God today just as He was long ago. He is doing the same things now, that He has done since the beginning of mankind.

The Bible is proof that God is exactly who we say He is. It is full of testimonies of people who have experienced Him for themselves. People who've encountered His miraculous, mysterious, goodness towards us. Please do not take my word for any of this. I implore and encourage you to read the Bible and learn who He is for yourself.

One biblical example: Joseph The Dreamer Genesis 37

Joseph had dreams through out his life, beginning in his childhood. His dreams were symbolic in nature but the meanings were very clear. Joseph excitingly told his parents and his brothers about his dreams. They were not happy with Joseph or what his dreams meant. Joseph was the youngest but God was telling him that one day he would be in a position above all of his family members. Lots of things happened to Joseph. His brothers betrayed him, he was sold into slavery, he was lied on, and sent to jail. But he remained faithful and never let go of the dreams that God shared with him. It wasn't until well into his adulthood that God's word came to fruition. God spoke to Joseph as a child about a future that no one around him would acknowledge and it still came true.

I've heard many people tell stories of dreams they've been given by God. I have my own stories as well. The quality of my dreams changed almost immediately after I 'got saved'. I can go on and on about dreams, visions and prophetic words I've received. God is big, almighty and amazing in all His ways. I have not seen all his promises fulfilled for my life yet but I can share one dream that I am standing in fully now.

My personal example:

I had a dream years ago. Long before I had written anything and not long after I 'got saved'. In the dream I was walking down a long white corridor. I noticed that there was a lady at the other end walking towards me. I knew that I had to tell her what she needed to complete her job and she had to tell me what I needed to complete my job. I had information for her and she had information for me. As we started to pass each other I told her a list of bout 5 things she would need. I can't remember the list but I know that they were secretarial items. And as she passed me she said 'pen'. That was it just one word, 'pen.. I woke up puzzled. I had no idea why she would tell me 'pen'. At this time I had just began thinking that there was something special going on with my dreams, so I began writing them all down. So, I thought this dream was in reference to my dream log. Little did I know that, that was not it. Looking back now from where I currently stand it all makes sense. I 've written and published four books. I've written hundreds of blogs. All to encourage and motivate others to Christ. She said all I needed was a pen Who'd of known I'd be writing as much as I am now... nobody but God.

Pay attention to your dreams. And when you are trying to understand your dreams, remember what you are praying about. Remember your desires, questions you have, things going on in your life. Your dreams can present answers and direction for every aspect of your life. I honestly believe that God is always trying to speak to us, help us and guide us.

Remember you may not always understand your dreams right away so its a good idea to keep a dream journal. Your dreams can be symbolic like Joseph's but pay attention to what those symbols mean to you. And there will be times when you know exactly what God is trying to tell you.

But whatever you do don't stop talking to God and make sure your listening to however He chooses to speak to you.

Acts2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Matthew 2:13And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the LORD appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Genesis 20:3But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.

Genesis 40:8And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.

Daniel 1:17As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
