Master Your Mind

Your mind is a powerful thing. The things you think about and the way you feel about them can affect the way you live your life. The things that drive your thought life, can actually control how you live. And the things that you think about and believe can manifest through what you do, good and bad. It all starts with your mindset.

Our mind controls how we feel and the attitude that we adapt has a lot to do with what we let influence our thought life. Think about this, when it comes to sports, if you go in with a 'can't do ' attitude, most likely you will not be able to perform the exercise presented to you. But at the same time, if you see the challenge, recognize the difficulty of it but decide to give it your best try, you just may surprise yourself and accomplish things you never thought you could.

How about this, we can choose to focus on the negative things in life or we can focus on the positive things around us. For example, I am guaranteed to have a bad day at work if I focus my thoughts on everything that is going wrong. Say I spilled my coffee, almost got into a car accident because another driver made a mistake, I forgot my keys so I had to wait on my slow co-worker to let me in and my first patient didn't respond when I said good morning, which made me think that she probably don't like me. I can get mad and take those things with me all day and just accept that I'm having a bad day or I can flip it into a positive.

Okay I spilled my coffee, guess what, I didn't need the extra caffeine anyway. I almost got into an accident but thank God I was alert and no one got hurt, Thank you Lord! And yeah my co-worker is slow but I made it to work and was still able to clock in on time. And that patient who didn't speak must really be feeling bad, maybe I can make her smile before she leaves today. It's all a matter of perspective.

We have ultimate control over how we think and respond to every situation. Negative thought patterns can be changed into positive ones. It just takes practice. The first thing we have to do is consciously observe our thoughts throughout the day. Then we have to identify and acknowledge any negative thought patterns. And cast those thoughts down or replace them with something positive.

Most days I feel like I have mastered this. I imagine myself as a ninja warrior with a samurai sword cutting down every negative thoughts as soon as it enters my brain. If the thought comes that I can't, I correct it immediately with yes I can. If I feel weak or pain, I tell myself that I am strong, well and that I can do this. And if I feel defeated , oh no not today satan. It's almost like a game I play, all day long casting out the negative and speaking life to myself. And when I am able to do this my days are much better for it.

Try it for yourself and remember that negative thoughts are not from our God above. Your mind is a battle ground for the enemy and a lot of people are defeated right there, in their own minds. Do not give satan any space in your head. Take control over your thoughts.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Philippians 4:6-7 6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 4:4 4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Mark 7:20-22 20And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

Luke 6:45 45A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
