'OMNI'

I learned a new word this week and if I ever had a favorite word this would be it. Before I share it with you I want to explain. It is what I call an 'omni word'. It is a word that begins with the letters O, M, N and I.

I have often tried to describe God, but my words seem to fall short. I often say that God is good. But that description is not good enough. So I try adding an adverb like so or very. Or an adjective like exceedingly or excessively but these words still don't quite do the job.

But there are the omni words they do such a great job of describing God. This prefix means all, in all ways or without limits. By itself omni encompasses what God is. But when you put it together with other words it means so much more. Words like:

Omnipotent- having all power, having unlimited power, able to do anything.

See what I am saying, when it comes to God that is a good one. And there's more...

Omniscient- knows everything

Omnipresent- is everywhere at the same time, wide spread, constantly encountered

Omnific- all creating, able to make or do anything

Omnicompetent- able to judge or deal with all things

Omniarch- ruler of all things, ruler of everything in the universe

These are all so good and together describe Him so perfectly. I am sure that there are many more omni words that I have not mentioned but now I want to share my favorite. The new word I learned this week is...

Omnibenevolent- possessing perfect, infinite and unlimited goodness.

Wow this is the word I have been looking for. God has perfect and unlimited goodness. This is why He does the things that He does for us. He wants to share His infinite goodness with us. He is a good, good God and there is no one else like Him. He is so much more than we deserve.

God is exactly who the Bible says He is. So often we try to put God into a box but by doing that we only limit His response to us. Our faith determines how much He can do in our lives. Those with little faith may only receive a little of His goodness. But how much more do you think those with a huge amount of faith will receive?? When you know exactly who He is and what He is capable of, it opens the door for His miracles to abound in your life. We just have to recognize who He is, believe it and live life like we know it.

Knowledge is the key. Knowing who our Heavenly Father is will change how you speak to Him in prayer. Your expectations of Him will be greater. And He will be able to respond more freely in our lives. All of us, no matter who we are, can exercise more faith in Him. Try being more faithful today.

James 1:1717Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

John 4:2424God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Genesis 1:11In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

1 John 1:55This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

1 Corinthians 10:1313There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

2 Peter 3:99The LORD is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
