Marriage is a Love That's Worth Fighting For

Every year me and my friends get together for a marriage retreat. This is a time that we seek to be closer to God, closer to our spouses and closer to each other. We all look forward to this annual event. For a chance to reconnect with friends, have fun and participate in daily bonding sessions. Where we not only bond with our spouses but with each other. And we always leave this retreat with our marriages strenthened in some way.

For the last two years my friends have trusted me to teach our Sunday morning sessions. I take great pride in doing this and consider it a huge privilege. I take this opportunity to share and teach what God says about marriage using the bible as my guide. Last year I was very nervous about what they would think about me leading our discussion. It went very well and we had so much fun. So this year I am actually excited and can't wait to share what I came up with.

This year's retreat is based around the movie Fire Proof. Our theme is fire proofing your marriage. My whole discussion is explaining why marriage is worth fighting for, what marriage means to God and what to do when the tough times arise.

To state it briefly marriage is a covenant before God and to have a successful union it must include God. You also need to recognize the enemy and never forget that he hates what God loves and God loves marriage. So keep God first in your marriage, remember why you fell in love, maintain good communication and be open to compromise. Also sacrifice and forgiveness are also important for every marriage. And dont forget recognize the enemy when he tries to step in he's always lurking around trying to cause trouble.

As they say in the movie, Fire Proof, never leave your partner behind and remembet your marriage and your love is worth fighting for.

KJV Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

KJV 1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

KJV Colossians 3:18-19 Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

KJV Proverbs 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the Lord.
