A God of My Own Understanding

I believe I first heard this term on YouTube. As I was listening to the testimony of a man who decided to get to know God for himself. This term spoke volumes to me because I did not know Him personally. I always went to the church house, to my pastor to other people to find out who God was. I had gone to church my whole life and yet I was still in a place of uncertainty, where I was not sure if I really knew Him at all.

At this time, I knew what I had been told about Him. I believed in God my whole life but at this point I had never had any real change in my life. I decided that I was going to forget everything that I thought I knew about Him. I was going to start from scratch. I was going to treat this as any other subject that I knew nothing about and wanted to learn.

So where did I start? I started with the Bible. I had read hundreds maybe even thousands of books in my lifetime but I had never read the Bible. Except for bits and pieces here and there in church or an occasional bible story. I had very little understanding of the Bible when I first began. But it was really amazing and it is so true that eventually the Holy Spirit will step in and give you understanding. Trust the understanding that is given to you by the Holy Spirit.

During this process I read other texts but the Holy Bible and prayer were my main resources. I didn't realize it but I was growing closer to Him and He was growing closer to me. This was the start of my personal relationship with Him. And eventually he began to reveal himself me, in dreams, in visions and so many other ways (I detail my experiences in my book, My Extraordinary Walk). He wants to reveal Himself to all of us but we have to invite Him into our lives first.

God was always there. He gives us freewill and He waits patiently for us to come to Him. It is such a simple thing and so easy to do but so many of us never do. Don't let the enemy trick you into believing you're good. Get your own understanding of who God is. Get to know him for yourself. Build your own personal relationship with Him. Be sure of who He is to you and who you are to Him. He loves us all so much, don't wait try Him today.

KJV Matthew 7:7-8 7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

KJV John 14:26 26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

KJV John 14:23 23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
