In order to be saved we have to repent. Every Christian has to do this at some point. It usually happens at the beginning of our journey. When we realize how sinful we really are. And we begin to understand what God wants to do for us.
So today the million dollar question is... What is repentance? Repentance is defined as sincere regret or remorse. It includes the feelings of regret, shame and guilt. And it is an act that comes from self reflection.
Repentance comes with the knowledge that we are all sinners. It is part of human nature. Sin comes with us trying to satisfy our flesh. Sin is one of the things that we all have in common, No one is perfect.
The biblical definition of repentance is the act of changing ones mind. It is more than feeling regret and being remorseful about our sin. It goes one step further and requires some action, the act of turning away from ones sin. To stop doing the things that you know you you should no be doing. To stop sinning.
That is the full act of repentance. It involves being sincere and honest with your self and God. That is how you become 'saved'. Every person who turns to God in genuine repentance WILL be saved. It's that simple.
Repentance should be a way of life because despite our best efforts we still mess up. There are also times when we participate in things that we do not know are sins. Nether the less we should do our best not to sin and repent daily. And if there is anything that you are struggling with, ask God for help. He's always there and as long as we are sincere He will help us. And remember He does of expect any of us to be perfect. So repent, you have nothing to loose.
