Intentional [inˈten(t)SH(ə)n(ə)l]

Today's Biblical Dictionary selection is 'intentional'. Intent means purpose or being determined to do something. Being intentional means to do something on purpose. A deliberate, willful act that is thought out in advance. All things are created for a purpose and with a specific intention in mind.

For example, tools are created for a specific purpose. The manufacturer has a particular intention in mind when each tool is created. A hammer is intended to be used as a carpentry tool. So when you see a person with a hammer 9 times out of 10 you can guess what that person is going to do with it.

It is the same with most things in life. Of course anything can be used outside of it's intended purpose. A hammer can be used to play tennis. With a lot of time effort and energy you might be able to make it work. But that would be time and energy that is not well spent. That is not the best tool for the job and that is not what the hammer is intended for.

Just as tools are created for a specific purpose. We were created for a specific purpose too. Some of us spend exhaustive amounts of energy just to move through life. Doing things that they were not created to do. We need to be intentional about life. By finding our purpose and developing that thing that God created us to do.

You will find that when you are living in your purpose, it won't cause stress. It will actually do the opposite, it will fall together with ease. Remember, God is intentional about everything that He does. There is a reason for it all. We just have to seek our place in it. God does not want to hide it from you. But you will have to ask Him in order for it to be revealed.

Be intentional about this life and do all you can to remain in line with your intended purpose. If everyone could just do this, the world would be a better place.
