Today I am going to be discussing the story found in John chapter 9. This is one of the stories about Jesus giving a blind man sight.
Jesus was walking with his disciples. On their travels, they passed a man who had been born blind. He was sitting outside begging the passers by. The disciples asked Jesus, whose sin had caused this man's blindness. The disciples questioned whether it was his own sin or the sin of his parents. Jesus' response was that is was neither. He then stated that this man was born blind so that God could work a miracle in him. With that Jesus made clay by mixing his spit with dirt and he applied this clay to the blind man's eyes. Then Jesus sent him to go wash in the pool of Siloam. When the man washed the clay away, his sight was restored. He told everyone his story of exactly what Jesus did for him. The people then took this man to the Pharisees, to report the miracle. The Pharisees did not believe what they were hearing until they spoke with his parents who verified that this was their son and that he was indeed born blind. The Pharisees accepted that a miracle had occurred but continued to believe that Jesus was a sinner. They continued to question the man that was born blind, trying to get him to agree that Jesus was a sinner. That's when he told the Pharisees that he did not know if Jesus was a sinner or not, but what he did know was that he was blind but now he can see.
In this story Jesus was alive but I want you all to know that Jesus still has the same power today. Just like the man that was born blind, when Jesus comes into our lives our eyes are opened. He opens our eyes to what new life in Him is. He opens our eyes to the Holy Spirit and his power. He opens our eyes to purpose and our identity in Him.
Just like the man who was born blind, when we come in contact with Jesus our lives are changed forever. We are made over, different, we become new creatures in Christ. We are all blind before we get to know Christ. It is the testimony of every Christian that has been born again, 'I was blind but now I see.'
Jesus was a miracle worker when he walked the earth and he is still a miracle worker now. Experience your own miracles today.
