How many of us know that this journey can be a lonely one? The journey of following Christ and trying to live right is not as easy as some may think. It's a journey of trying to figure out who God is and who He has created you to be, It's full of self reflection, spiritual growth and lots learning.
I say that it can be lonely because in order to build a personal relationship with Christ, you will have to spend time alone. Time alone in prayer, talking to God, reading his word, listening to God and letting Him lead you. Learning how to hear from Him is a very important part of this life. And it requires that you spend quality time with Him, just like you would do in any other relationship.
The circumstances in my family changed when I started following God's lead. My place of worship changed, I began writing and I started taking Ministry training classes. All things I never thought I'd do. And I have often felt that those around me did not understand. So, I have been alone in my worship. This is not a complaint because I have been able to grow closer to the Lord during this process.
But today I believe God that is showing me something. Today is my birthday and it is also the day of my first sermon. Ttoday I have my closest family members here with me. My husband and my son will be in church with me today. My mom is here from Buffalo, NY, she has not been here in SC with me in over 12 years. My sister and her kids travelled down from NC to be with me today. It is amazing because I am definitely not alone.
I didn't expect this day to be like this. I feel loved, supported and a bit excited. I did not know how much I needed this. Today is a great day and I am so very grateful. It shows me that if you commit to following God's lead, He will take care of the rest. Right when you need it most, He will show up and give you exactly what you need.
I am so glad to be surrounded by my family. I want to encourage everyone else to follow God's lead in your life, don't worry and trust Him handle everything else. He knows the desires of our hearts and He knows exactly what we need. Even if we don't realize it ourselves.
Proverbs 3:5 5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Psalm 37:4-6 4Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Romans 8:28 28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Psalm 28:7 7The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
