Fast Food Mentality

In today's world, we want everything quick, fast and in a hurry. Every company with a service does their best to give you what you want as soon as possible. The quicker they serve you, the quicker they get paid. That's what makes the world go around.

Right now, if I wanted I could go to my local fast food restaurant and get an entire meal for my family. It would be hot and ready in just a few minutes. And it wouldn't take any real effort from me at all. But think about the quality of what I would be feeding them. It would definitely fill their bellies but would it nourish their minds and bodies?

Most fast food is full empty calories. It looks good, tastes good and even smells good, but is it good for your body? Fast food doesn't require much effort or money from you. It is immediately satisfying but the long term effects on your health can be negative.

The problem I see with our society is that this fast food mentality is creeping it's way into the church. We just want a quick message and a good song. So that we can feel good, drop our offering and go. Many of us repeat this over and over again, every Sunday. Some of us don't even stop to think, why there isn't any real change in our lives.

We get stuck in this cycle because it is immediately satisfying. You feel good while you are in the church service then you go back home to your life. There are people who have been repeating this for years, never seeing any real change in their life. And they may not even know why.

I want to tell you today, that if you want to see real change. If you want to see God move in your life. It is going to take a little more effort from you. God is more than just going to church. You have to make time for Him in your life, daily. Set time aside to read His word and pray, everyday. I don't care if it's just 10 minutes, that will be 10 minutes that you are giving to God everyday.

The world is changing so fast and time seems to be going by even faster. But I am asking you to slow down just a little bit and dedicate a small portion of you day to God. Stay steadfast, commit to this and you will start to see things change in your life. He will begin to show up in unexpected ways. All it takes is a little effort from you.

James 4:8 8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Isaiah 55:6-7 6Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Psalm 65:4 4Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

Psalm 145:18 18The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

Zechariah 1:3 3Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.
